Yup, it's definitely Saturday

This song is really starting to win me over the more it's on the radio here. Let me preface this by saying that I do not watch American Idol. (I am a fan of 'the Voice' though) On the other hand, my parents do religiously, so they fill me in on the finalists and all.. in case I needed to know or something.

Anyway, this post is meant to be short, so I won't continue on too much. I share with you, Phillip Phillips. Yes, to those none AI watchers like myself, that is his name. Now, naming a child seems to be very, very involved lately; Proud parents take their god-given 9 (full) months to decide on the most compelling (not necessarily socially acceptable) moniker for their child. Do you think his parents just were one of those few that just had no clue so decided to go with the only thing they knew? Anyway, it has a ring... and more importantly, the song and his voice are lovely. Yay Phil Phillips.

"Hold on to me as we go
As we roll down this unfamiliar road
And although this wave is stringing us along
Just know you're not alone
Cause I'm going to make this place your home"

Yeezy is a no show

I know you all are going to be severely disappointed, and I really hate breaking the hearts of any of my readers, BUT I have startling news.

wait for it....

Kanye West has decided to not show at Paris Fashion Week next month... and maybe...... forever.
Now let the speculation commence!

Do we think it has anything to do with the new relationship/promotional tour with Kim K? Anything to do with the mixed reviews he's received the past 2 presentations? The fact that he has yet to gain the respect he's been looking for from the fashion world?
It has been officially confirmed by his PR agency, but no specific reason was given. As usual. I will let you all know if I hear anymore news surrounding this travesty, but in the meantime I'd love to know your thoughts!... and please, for the love of God, let this not be a hiatus while the label decides to collaborate with the Kardashians for a joint venture in H&M or something. *gulp* It's out in the universe now, so you know we'll be likely seeing something like this soon. Help us all!

"Kanye West's fashion debut was like being subjected to an hour long MRI scan — but not as much fun." — Telegraph

"Kanye West's collection was so Givenchy-esque that it’s embarrassing that Givenchy designer Riccardo Tisci was an expected guest.” — WSJ

"I'd guess the average woman with disposable income for high-end designer clothes is about as interested in showing that much skin as they are in being Snooki." — New York Magazine

"His view of women seems dubious and strangely out of date, given so much skin tight leather, and bondage whips." — Daily Mail

"Next season, Kanye should get a tailor so clothes might fit." — Cathy Horyn, New York Times

Whatta'ya Love? Weds.

We made it through another half-a week here at BsT&B... ThankGod! It's been a busy one trying to get the blog all pretty and ready to debut itself on search engines.
For this week's post I'd like to share some art that I'm really lova-duvin' on. If only I could heed my own advice.

Smells like teen spirit

"She's overboard and self-assured
Oh, no, I know a dirty word"
- Nirvana

  Joanie ' Chyna Doll' Laurer,
Emmys 1999
Paula Abdul,
Emmys 1989
Let's take a look at some worst dressed nominees from Sunday night's Emmy party... Of course, it's all relative. One man's trash is another man's treasure. You may find these pretty compelling - Don't let me tell you differently. In yesterday's post I already designated my worst dressed of the night to Ashley Judd in Carolina Herrara. But alas, there are many, many more that just do not make the fashion cut. Let's put them on parade. Don't worry, you can all make it up again next year... this will all be in the past in less than a month because well, thankfully, none of you were as bad as Joanie Laurer in 1999 or Paula Abdul in 1989. All designers will remain anonymous.... for fashion's sake.
Elisabeth Moss

Lena Dunham
Emilia Clarke

Hayden Panettiere
Kelly Osbourne
Yes, yes I did it. I don't care if Kelly Osbourne had nail polish on that cost $250,000. Matching your dress to your hair, or hair to your dress, never bought you a ticket to the best dressed list. Nor does your seat on Fashion Police.
Hayden Panettiere went a bit too over the top with the drape. The dress looks like it has strong potential if only they cut off about 3 yards of chiffon from it. The colors are pretty though.
I don't think I need to state my case for Emilia Clarke's dress. If that's what you want to call it.
Lena Dunham is a bit too conservative for my eye. I also kind of want to cut off the sleeves, lower the neckline, and maybe add a belt at the waistline. Did they even have to pattern this dress?
Poor, poor Elisabeth Moss. I really hope this dress looked completely different in her hotel room. You know, one of those situations when you bring something outside and it becomes something else. This dress looks like it may have grew a few extra ruffles in photosynthesis.

Emmy Fash

I don't know if you've heard...but it's Monday.

'Quirky' Deschanel in Reem Acra
is it just me or does the dress look
more fit for Rosie and Sophia Grace?
Last night were the Emmys. I'm not really a big fan of award shows, honestly they bore me. I do believe though, that it is required of me and my fashion duty to see what the nominees and attendees are wearing...no problem, I can do that.
First, we are just going to get this all out of the way, because everyone loves her way too much - Zooey Deschanel in Reem Acra. Oh, how I want to kick her quirky to the curb.
Heidi Klum in Alexandre Vauthier Couture
p.s. I've had 4 kids.
I get it. You think you're quirky. You even have the quirky voice to fit the image. Her princess dress at last night's event? meh. If only Zooey woke up one day and decided to be a real girl, you know dress all Heidi Klum and all.

Speaking of Miss. Klum, please tell me you saw the dress last night... If that was not a statement to Seal, "last time I checked I can fornicate with whomever I see fit, auf wiedersehen."

Claire Danes in Lanvin
I can't find the bump in all that blouson :/
How do you all feel about our pregnant friend, Claire Danes? Pregnancy fashion can be kind of hard if you're not really feeling it. I think the color looks amazing on her and she is definitely glowing. The dress is also Lanvin, so love, love points there. The only thing that doesn't complete the gorgeousness picture here, for me, is the silhouette.
I was lucky enough (cue sarcasm) to see Claire do the rounds on daytime television over the past week before the big show and I was floored at the fact that you couldn't even tell she was kangarooing a baby in there!
So, I really wish she would've taken the same approach for the awards and still put her eenie weenie bump into something a little more flattering and belly skimming. She looks good, but I think she could've looked much better. I feel like I want to wear this to the beach or to dinner on an all-inclusive vacation. Oh Claire, don't hide it - flaunt it!
Emily, who? - in J. Mendel
I'm not sure how many of you watch the ABC show, Revenge? I don't. I'm an all reality show type of girl myself, so I had to look this next actress up on Wiki. - Emily Vancamp in J. Mendel.
When I saw her on the red carpet, I just thought she looked stunning.. stun. The dress is beautiful and her accessories, make-up and hair complement it beautifully. I still don't know who she is, because I won't watch the show, but hopefully we will see her again since she does the red carpet some good.
Julianne Hough in Georges Hobeika
Ryan Seacrest seems to have done Julianne Hough some good lately. She absolutely stole the red carpet! I tend to think she looks like some gorgeously ethereal  mermaid. The dress is just killer.
There definitely was some sort of aquatic trend happening last night with Sofia Vergara also sporting the same silhouette and teal-green color.  I wasn't as much of fan of Sofia's look, it tended to be a tad overdone. Love her, but did not love the dress.
Julianne's makeup and hair I think really put together the whole flawless image we're seeing here. There are so many ways to have gone wrong, and I'm so happy she got it so right! Her look was the most refreshingly new to me, and what makes me loathe award season, is the same old dresses, same old colors, and same boring hair styles on the carpet season after season. The designers are not the ones to blame, but the person creating their image whether it be a stylist or some brave independents that tackle it themselves.
Speaking of those brave ones that dress themselves, do you think Ashley Judd was one of them? My nominee for worst dressed. I feel terrible nominating such a sweet, sweet actress but we're talking fashion and all bets are off when it comes to your dress. It looks awfully like a prom dress off the rack at the Deb Shop.  Dare I say, cheap to a Carolina Herrara?... oh that just hurts. Wouldn't she have looked so spectacular if she kept from the neck up and threw on, say, Guiliana Rancic's dress from Romona Keveza? Okay, I guess the bouffant needs to deflate some too.

Well, that's a wrap on Emmy fashion.
